A short bio: I joined the Institute of Fundamental Physics (in the Serrano campus... close to "La casa de papel") as a Staff Scientist (Científico Titular) in August 2018. Before that I had the pleasure to work in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at University of Sussex (2013-18). I got a PhD in Theoretical Physics at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (2003). Then I moved to the Max-Planck Institute for Quantum Optics (Theory Division) in Garching, Germany (2003-2008), where I was working as post-doc (Marie Curie Fellow) and assistant scientist. I was awarded a Ramon y Cajal Fellowship (2009-2013) that I spent in the Department of Theoretical Physics at Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
My research lies at the intersection of theoretical condensed matter physics, quantum optics, and quantum information science. I work on the theoretical design and analysis of quantum simulators with trapped ions, superconducting qubits and ultracold atoms. You can see a few presentations on my work for both specialists and the general public here.
